This reader collects the results of a study project about the health care system in Zimbabwe, conducted by students of the University of Cologne. Health and development are seen as two processes that cannot be separated from each other: Health cannot only be defined as the absence of illness but rather covers sectors that guarantee preserving health like land distribution and agriculture, the nutrition situation, income structures, infrastructure and educational opportunities of a state. Therefore, health-related and political actions are always mutually dependent. In this background, the authors consider the areas of primary health care, traditional medicine, midwifery, rehabilitation of disabled people and furtherance of women’s development in their research.
