WUS Award 2021

WUS Award 2021

The German committee of World University Service (WUS) honors graduates at German universities – from all scientific areas – who have dealt with one of the following topics of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the Agenda 2030 of the United Nations in their final theses:

  • Education for Sustainable Development
  • Global Learning
  • Human Right to Education

The prize is embedded in the National German Action Plan for the World Action Plan for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and is donated by the former Herder Club, Dresden. It has been awarded since 2016 and is highly respected.

Only theses that deal with ways, solutions, suggestions, projects and similar content on how the goals of the Agenda 2030 can be achieved through concepts and measures relating to education, learning and teaching can be submitted.

The prize will be awarded in two categories:

 (A) to graduates of undergraduate programs, with a Bachelor’s or other equivalent degree;

 (B) to graduates of advanced study programs, with a Master’s or other equivalent degree.

Doctoral theses are excluded from the award!

The theses should be completed and submitted in the calendar year 2020 and be written in German or English.

An application can only be made in electronic form to preis@wusgermany.de.

Deadline is 28 February 2021.

The application must include the following documents:

  • Cover letter with assignment of the application to category A or B and with statements on the relevance of the work to the topic and focus of the award;
  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • Copy of the work and summary (2 pages);
  • Copy of the evaluation and grading of the work.

Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Please address further questions to preis@wusgermany.de.

€ 1.500 are available as prize money (€ 750 each for category A and B). If no prize-worthy works are submitted for one of the two categories, two prizes can be awarded in the same category or the prize money can be increased up to € 1.500.

An independent jury decides on the awarding of the prize. Legal action is excluded.

It is intended that all submitted works and their summaries will be published in the e-library of the WUS-Portal after approval.
