IJGD stands for International Youth Community Services. It is a non-profit organisation working in the field of international youth work and political education. Since 1949, IJGD has been active throughout Germany as an organisation independent from any religious or political party and recognised by the state authorities. The aim of IJGD is to forward young people's awareness of social conditions and to support the development of a feeling of social responsibility. The work of IJGD thus includes the promotion of international understanding and the reduction of prejudice between people of different nations, social backgrounds, religions and political ideas. We organise workcamps, international youth meetings, youth holiday periods in Germany, Europe and overseas as well as different trainings and seminars as further education.
In addition, IJGD is in charge of different long-term voluntary services such as the voluntary social service (FSJ), the voluntary ecological service (FÖJ) and the voluntary heritage service (FJD).
The Berlin part of IJGD, IJGD LV Berlin, has a specific focus on intercultural and inter-generation projects. In the field of the European Voluntary Service (EVS), IJGD Berlin is involved as a sending and hosting organisation. As part of our pilote project ‘voluntary services in socially deprived areas', ijgd Berlin has a growing number of EVS-placements in Berlin in socially deprived areas. This pilote project aims to further social inclusion, intercultural learning and to support small non-profit organisations and initiatives. As a sending organisation we send young German volunteers from Berlin and ist surroundings for longterm voluntary services to Europe in the frame work of EVS.
IJGD Berlin also organises midterm voluntary services in Africa, Asia and Latinamerika.

People involved for many years in promoting "democracy with children" and children's rights came together to found the association "Macht Kinder stark für Demokratie" (prepare children for democracy!). They work in many domains such as the media, industry and commerce, educational institutions, public administration, and children's rights organizations. Makista wants to ensure that children are respected from day one and that they adopt democratic values. In this way, they can learn to respect others and take responsibility for the community at large. Many institutions and private sponsors are committed to the rights of children and youths. Makista aims to provide basic information concerning children's rights. We support opportunities to share ideas and experiences. We organize symposia and workshops, and we develop web-based information services for pupils, parents and teachers. We are a network of people who, for many years, have been committed to supporting the rights of children as laid down in the 1989 UN Convention on Children's Rights. A main concern of the Convention is to give children and youths a voice in all matters that affect them. Our many years of experience with the involvement of children and youths of all ages show that when young people are taken seriously, they can do much more than we normally expect. This assumes that adults provide them with a supportive environment. We would very much like to provide you with information on our experience in this domain, as well as addresses, links, literature, practical tips and suggestions for valuable projects. Makista is not associated with any political party and it is recognized as a non-profit organization.

Diakonia is a global network of people, organisations and churches working towards more people living a life in dignity. Diakonia has nearly 40 years experience of development work. Diakonia was established in 1966 under the name Free Church Aid. In 1984 the name was changed to Diakonia. The word "diakonia" is Greek and menas care and service.
Diakonia´s goal is a fair and sustainable development in which living standards for the most vulnerable people are iomproved, and democracy, human rights and ewuality are respected across the world. The starting point for this is the gospel eith Jesus as the role model.
Diakonia does not carry out any projects of its own, but support local partners. As they are already present, the aid becomes effective.
Vision
Everywhere on earth where poverty, injustice and violence occur you will find people who are inspired to make a change. Diakonia´s vision is that all people can live a satisfactory life and have the opportunity to exercise their civil and political rights, which means secured livelihood, a peaceful living environment and knowlede to influence ones situation.
Our Swedish Base
Diakonia is an organisation with six of Sweden´s churches as denominations; Interact, The Methodist Church in Sweden, The Swedish Alliance Mission, The Swedish Baptist Commonity, The Swedish Salvation Army and The Mission Covenant Church of Sweden. People in their congregations form Diakonia´s Swedish support base. Diakonia work with, and for, these people with popular education, mobilisation, campaigning and fundraising. The support base also includes local and regional Diakonia representatives and many individuals. These are very important in spreading information and carrying out campaigns for Diakonia and our work.
